Nursery – Donaldson Class
Welcome to Donaldson Class
In Nursery the Class Teacher is Miss Sutcliffe and the Teaching Assistants are Miss Stephenson and Mrs Jackson.
We are a fun and energetic class: we are very active learners, love to share stories, role play, interact with nature, sing and get messy!
In Nursery we follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Each area of learning and development is implemented through planned, purposeful play and through a balance of child-initiated and adult-directed experiences. Play is essential for children’s development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, to think about problems, and relate to others. We value children’s interests and this is the starting point for all of our learning in Nursery.
We have access to a rich and stimulating environment both indoors and outside and the children are independent in selecting their own learning experiences. We often work in small Key Groups which gives us the opportunity to build strong relationships with our Key Person and with the other children in our class.
Our class is named after the fantastic author Julia Donaldson who has written lots of wonderful and well-known children’s stories such as Superworm, The Gruffalo, The Snail and The Whale, A Squash and a Squeeze and The Smartest Giant in Town to name only a few!
