Nursery – Donaldson Class
Welcome to Donaldson Class
In our Nursery, the class teacher is Miss Howard and the teaching assistants are Miss Messam and Miss Williams.
We are a fun and energetic class: we are very active learners, love to share stories, role play, interact with nature, sing and get messy!
In nursery we follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Each area of learning is developed through play. We do this by creating an enabling environment (both physical and emotional) and through the relationships and interactions that the children experience. Play is essential for children’s development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, to think about problems, and relate to others. We observe children carefully, and enhance the learning whenever we spot a ‘teachable moment’. We value children’s interests and this is the starting point for all of our learning in nursery.
We have access to a rich and stimulating environment both indoors and outside and the children are independent in selecting their own learning experiences.
Our class is named after the fantastic author Julia Donaldson who has written lots of wonderful and well-known children’s stories such as 'Superworm', 'The Gruffalo', 'The Snail and The Whale', 'A Squash and a Squeeze' and 'The Smartest Giant in Town' to name only a few!
I have a Second Class Honours Degree in Youth Justice and a PGCE from Nottingham Trent University. I have experience working with young children in a range of year groups, but my heart belongs to EYFS! I thoroughly enjoy teaching and I am very excited to begin my NQT year as the Nursery Class Teacher.
Thank you for all your help and support throughout this important year.
